Rochon was the only daughter born to Zelma Staples. An entrepreneur, she is also the daughter Zelma's nurse practitioner. Cerritos high school in Cerritos is where she received her degree from. In 1986, she graduated from California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with the degree of Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism. She also majored in theatre and sociology. Rochon's return to CSUDH was in 2016 when she spoke at commencement for the College of Arts and Humanities.

Ullerup was first seen in Battlestar Galactica remake, the Sci Fi Channel's 2006 television show. The role she played was Julia Brynn. In the first two seasons on Sanctuary the actress was Ashley Magnus until the character was eliminated. The fans were furious over the departure of her character, and many wanted to see her return in the next episodes. The show ended in 2012 but not before a heated discussion. In the year 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup portrayed Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie that chronicles the disaster of 2015. Ullerup's regular role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series is Dale Travers since 2016.
